Loft Dance Theater Arts COVID-19 Plan and Policy

Here at Loft Dance Theater Arts the safety of our students, their families, and our employees is a number one priority. As we begin to re-open and test these new waters we want to put everyone at ease and lay out our COVID plan.

Summary:

  • Studios will be cleaned and disinfected between classes.
  • Class sizes will be reduced and offered by Zoom and in person.
  • Class times will stagger giving the opportunity for students to wash hands before class and in between classes as well as clean studios.
  • Teachers will transition between classrooms when possible – students will stay put.
  • Face coverings will be required for faculty, staff, parents and
  • Dancers will have their temperature taken upon entering the studio and then immediately go to the hand sanitizer station before taking their bags to assigned cubbies.
  • Dancers will enter the studio via one door and exit via another (creating a one way traffic process).
  • Water, small non-shareable snack food and a small dance bag will be permitted – keep it simple and essential – clean/disinfect each day (if your dancer is at the studio less than 2.5 hours we ask that they have a snack BEFORE entering the studio).
  • The lobby will be closed, parents will need to wait for their dancer in their cars.
  • Class rooms will be taped, marked and run at 50% capacity to ensure social distancing.

How are we keeping the students and faculty safe?

  • First and foremost, we are asking faculty, staff and students to stay home when they are sick, feeling sick, been in close contact with someone with COVID-19, or concerned they may have been exposed(close contact) to COVID-19 – Not sure when to stay home? This CDC link can help determine the best course of action and the guidelines we will be following. Learn when to stay home and when to return to the studio.   • Based on guidelines and Government mandate – all Loft staff and faculty will be wearing face coverings and the children will be required to as well. CDC recommendations on  cloth face coverings and Nevada OSHA face covering guidelines here  and proper use, removal, and washing of cloth face coverings.
    • Note:
      • Cloth face coverings are meant to protect other people in case the wearer is unknowingly infected but does not have symptoms. Cloth face coverings are not surgical masks, respirators, or other medical personal protective equipment and should not be placed on:
        • Babies or children younger than 2 years old
        • Anyone who has trouble breathing or is unconscious
        • Anyone who is incapacitated or otherwise unable to remove the cover without help
      • Cleaning and Disinfection
        • We will be cleaning and disinfecting per the CDC guidelines (Clean and disinfect)frequently touched surfaces (e.g., Barres, door handles, sink handles, light switches etc.) as well as shared objects (e.g., art supplies, mats, ) will be limited when possible, or cleaned between use. We may assign art supplies or equipment to students for camp for example.
        • Cleaning/Disinfecting will be done between classes (this means class times will be staggered)
        • Use gloves when removing garbage bags or handling and disposing of trash. Wash handsafter removing gloves.
      • Food, Water and Belongings
      • Students will be able to bring in a water bottle (Water only please – no juice or soda) and snacks – but must not share with their friends.
      • Students will eat in separate areas or with their smaller group at safe 6ft apart distances.
      • Students may bring a dance bag with necessary shoes and clothes, however we request only the essentials come to the studio and bags and objects are cleaned daily before coming back to the studio.
      • Please no sharing of phones, toys, books, or electronic devices.
      • Classroom Layouts
        • The studio floors will be taped to indicate social distance space.
        • Water and snack time will be monitored and in small groups to keep the students distanced and safe
        • Class sizes will be limited to what will be safely distanced in the studios. (some studios may have 12 students others may only have 4 others 10.)
        • Modified class schedule ( Zoom Classes and in person classes will be offered) – time will be built into the schedule for cleaning between classes as well as hand washing for students.
        • Teachers will transition classrooms where possible, students will stay in place.
        • The Lobby will be closed
        • Parents will not be allowed into the lobby – if you need to meet with Staff, please call Miss Monica to schedule or inform you need to speak with us and we will be able to assist you.
        • Students will be directed to enter the building through one door and exiting students will leave through another door to minimize clustering.
        • There will be “helpers” to take temperatures, ensure students are following the correct paths and washing hands.
        • Various CDC signs will be placed around the studio regarding social distancing and hand washing.

  • Communication Systems
  • We will email out any updated information, place notices on social media (Instagram and FaceBook) and post to the website.
  • Staff Training
    • Faculty and staff will be trained on all safety protocols and how to recognize signs and symptoms of COVID-19.
    • Faculty and staff will be available to answer questions and make students feel safe.
  • If someone gets sick or is exposed
    • Loft Dance Theater Arts will follow all CDC and Washoe County guidelines if a student, parent, faculty or staff become ill with or are exposed to COVID-19. This may include but is not limited to:
      • Closing the studio for a period of time to clean and disinfect – offering ZOOM Classes only
      • Quarantine/Isolation for all to ensure no one else is sick
      • Testing for Faculty and Staff
      • Informing and updating students and parents as needed
      • Notify Health Officials as needed per local laws and regulations
